The submission period for Open Set, MoMath’s mathematical song competition, is now open.

Open Set invites creative, math-inspired musical performances.  Participants may write original lyrics to a favorite tune or compose an original melody.  Other mathematical performances may also be considered, but Open Set is primarily a showcase for music.  Lyrics must be original and must relate to math or a mathematical concept.

Submissions are due by Sunday, February 15 at 5:00 pm ET.  Winners will be announced and invited to perform at an open mic–style evening event at MoMath on Friday, April 11.

Instructions

• To begin, submit an entry using the application form.
• Solo and group submissions are welcome.  For group entries, each performer or co-writer must complete an entry form; the video and text need only be submitted once.
• The only rules are that the lyrics must be original and must be about math or a mathematical concept.
• During the submission process, you will be asked to upload:
  • A video of you (or your group) performing the work
  • The text of your work (e.g., poem, song), if applicable
